As you may be aware from recent stories in the media, the regulations governing Term Time Holidays are changing. Amendments have been made to the 2006 regulations and come into effect on the 1st September 2013.
The changes make clear that schools may not grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances and the discretionary figure of 10 days absence has been removed. The new regulations will apply to all state schools in England.
This means that we will no longer authorise any holidays during term-time. Any child absent from school for a term time holiday will be registered as unauthorised. The regulations state that a parent who fails to ensure their child’s regular attendance at school can be issued with a fixed penalty notice.
